Securities

You can make a gift of appreciated securities – publicly traded stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares – to WRA while avoiding capital gains tax, diversifying your portfolio, and/or securing a stream of income. It is surprisingly simple and may provide you with significant tax benefits.

  1. Send us an email to let us know your gift is coming; this helps us ensure it is accurately identified and processed.
  2. Provide these transfer instructions to your broker. Please ask that your name be provided with the stock transfer. If you prefer to make a stock gift anonymously, we are happy to honor your request. A name and valid contact information must be provided so that we may receipt the stock gift. WRA will sell the stock and send a donor tax receipt using the contact information provided.

Before giving bonds or mutual funds, please contact Theresa Bushman, Vice President of Development and Communications, at theresa.bushman@westernresources.org

Planned Gift

Creating a charitable legacy is one of the most lasting and impactful actions you can take. Donors who make gifts to WRA in their wills or estate plans demonstrate their concern for future generations. Learn more about estate and planned giving options.

With global warming, mega-droughts, the associated increases in natural disasters and increased pressures on the natural environment, WRA’s work is more important than ever. I feel fortunate I am in a position to support WRA.
