Area of Focus
Anuja Oke is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the development of business practices and market rules in the day-ahead electricity market offering from the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). This market is known as the Extended Day Ahead Market or EDAM. Specifically, she tracks the CAISO EDAM implementation plan, with a focus on three market policy elements – greenhouse gas accounting, transmission use and access, and market performance. Anuja is responsible for: (1) understanding the components of the EDAM tariff recently approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and identifying corresponding EDAM business process rules development efforts; (2) identifying where proposed business practices or market rules deviate from WRA’s public interest goals and principles; and (3) developing a roadmap for WRA’s future engagement. These work products inform WRA’s advocacy strategy related to energy market and transmission expansion issues to ensure public interest goals are sustained.
Background
Before joining WRA, Anuja was an energy and utilities consultant at PA Consulting, specializing in quantitative data analytics to generate price forecasts for various clients within the energy industry. At PA Consulting, she developed retail rate projections, forecasted operations and contribution margins for thermal power plants, and created forecasts for renewable energy technology costs and renewable energy credit prices. Anuja also interned at the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), where she developed a market case for green hydrogen technology in steel plants to meet emissions goals. Prior to her time at RMI, Anuja interned at Terra CO2, where she identified market entry opportunities for an alternative cement product and analyzed coal plant data to understand the market landscape of fly ash.
