Tammy advances innovative legislative and administrative policy solutions to address New Mexico’s most pressing conservation challenges. She works to achieve WRA’s policy priorities via relationship-building with government officials, coalition-building with diverse stakeholders, and trust-building with overburdened communities.

Background

Tammy brings over 30 years of expertise in climate change advocacy to her role at WRA. As the founder of an environmental consulting firm, she provided expert guidance to clients on energy efficiency program submissions to state regulators. Tammy also led educational sessions on energy conservation codes and policies and actively contributed to the New Mexico Code Change Committee. Her advocacy efforts extended to lobbying for increased energy efficiency and building electrification at the New Mexico State Legislature. Additionally, she curated comprehensive education and outreach materials focusing on energy efficiency and environmental policies.

Beyond her climate change advocacy, Tammy has been a dedicated advocate for wildlife conservation for many years. She has been involved in initiatives concerning prairie dog colonies, urban wildlife, and the protection of endangered species and public lands. Tammy spearheaded the development of a water quality reporting system in Boulder, CO, and has been deeply engaged in addressing water issues in Albuquerque, NM.

Accomplishments

Tammy’s extensive contributions have led to her appointment to several influential boards, including the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority Board, Metropolitan Transit District Board, Mid-Region Council of Governments Executive Committee, Land of Enchantment Clean Cities Board, and the Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy Board. Her dedication to environmental and wildlife causes has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the 2020 Climate Conservation Award from the Climate Change Leadership Institute and the 2022 Outstanding Animal Advocate Award from Sprouting Compassion. In addition to her board memberships and accolades, Tammy is an active member of the Albuquerque City Council, further amplifying her impact on local environmental and sustainability initiatives.
