WRA Board of Directors

Our board is one of our chief assets, providing exemplary leadership to further the mission of our organization. Board members guide our work fighting climate change and its impacts in the West. They help govern the organization, raise support, and build our network of partners.

Carla Hamre Donelson

Chair of the Board

As an independent consultant, Carla Hamre Donelson provides strategic, organizational and legal advice to growth stage companies. For many years, she was a corporate finance/mergers & acquisitions lawyer with international law firm Morrison & Foerster, where she chaired the firm’s Rocky Mountain regional business practice. She then partnered with three former clients to form Verio Inc, where she served as Verio’s Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary. With her partners, Carla oversaw Verio’s successful growth-by-consolidation strategy, becoming a 4,000-employee international market leader in business focused web services, and culminating in Verio’s sale to Japanese telecom giant NTT just 4 years after inception.

Throughout her career Carla has served as an advisor to, and on the board of directors of, a variety of nonprofit organizations, primarily focused on education, the arts and the environment.

“Wallace Stegner, novelist and avid Western environmentalist, said that preserving the West’s natural resources ‘is a means of reassuring ourselves of our sanity as creatures, a part of the geography of hope.’ Through its thoughtful, balanced, and expertly implemented strategic vision, WRA brings precisely this reassurance, sanity and hope at such a critical time.”
