Electrifying cars and trucks improves public health, slashes climate pollution, and supports clean air, especially in diverse and low-income communities that are disproportionately exposed to car and truck pollution.
Colorado’s life-saving clean cars and trucks standards (Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks, and Low NOx heavy-Duty Omnibus), also adopted by nearly a dozen states across the country, have been illegally halted by the Trump Administration and Congress.
Through an unprecedented and unlawful use of the Congressional Review Act, Congress unraveled the Clean Air Act waivers that allowed states to adopt more stringent vehicle emissions standards, threatening our health and air. Because of this federal interference, states like Colorado are left without key tools to clean up deadly transportation pollution. But state leaders can still make a difference by charging forward with smart, durable state-level clean vehicle policies, investments, and incentives.
Governor Polis and Attorney General Phil Weiser continue to advocate for clean vehicles and recently joined a coalition of states suing the Trump Administration for its attacks on Colorado’s authority to implement critical clean air protections.
