Area of Focus
Rick oversees the day-to-day financial, administrative, human resources, and operational management of the organization, creating an efficient, high-functioning work environment that allows the organization to meet its strategic goals. He ensures WRA is fiscally healthy; runs in accordance with all legal, accounting, and other regulations; and that team members have the tools they need to advance WRA’s mission. He has been with WRA since 2015.
His depth and breadth of expertise has made him an invaluable asset to WRA. He has played a critical role in WRA’s growth, which doubled the team size during his tenure. Though rapid, this growth has been both thoughtful and sustainable thanks in large part to Rick.
Background
A veteran of environmental causes, Rick began his career at Florida Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), working to stop offshore drilling and advocating for other conservation issues critical to the state. Since then, he has helped to advance a variety of issues. Most recently he served as the Director of Finance and Administration for the Center for Effective Government (formerly OMB Watch) in Washington, D.C., as well as operating as the Administrative Director for Environment America and U.S. PIRG.
After advancing good governance and other nonprofit causes for more than two decades, Rick returned to his roots to pursue state-level work that would make an immediate difference. A problem-solver by nature, he’s most passionate about conservation and tackling the climate crisis through a multi-pronged approach to its unique challenges.
