Area of Focus:

As the Multimedia Specialist, Dave leads WRA’s social media strategy, multimedia content creation and cross-platform advertising campaigns. He is responsible for creating, developing, writing, and implementing strategic social media content and campaigns to effectively communicate WRA’s impact and influence. He collaborates with team members and other departments to build highly effective, metrics-based, fully integrated multi-channel communications, advertising, and fundraising campaigns that grow the organization’s thought leadership and achieve programmatic goals to advance WRA’s overall work.

Background:

Dave joined the WRA team in 2024 with a background in social media management, graphic design and photography. Growing up on Colorado’s Front Range, he worked in-house and as a freelancer for a variety of entities related to the outdoors in both nonprofit and for-profit environments.

Before joining WRA he managed the social media strategy for prolific freeskier Cody Townsend’s “The FIFTY Project”. The video series documented Townsend’s attempt to climb and ski some of North America’s most beautiful, and vulnerable landscapes. The project was at the center of a renaissance for human powered snow sports and demonstrated the real-time effects of climate change on western alpine landscapes.

Papineau also worked as a photographer for Colorado Trout Unlimited’s River Conservation and Fly Fishing Camp. The annual camp helps educate Colorado’s youth on the importance of water conservation in the west, particularly in relation to protecting cold water fisheries. His work can be seen in camp collateral.

Accomplishments:

Through a strategy grounded in analytics, and executed via storytelling, his channels with The FIFTY Project saw over 130% growth in the first 18 months.

In his home of Buena Vista, CO, he designed and built a new brand for the Buena Vista Public Library. His new logo and brand established a cleaner and more accessible visual style for the library and contributed to the upcoming expansion project.

Education:

  • Multimedia Graphic Design and Illustration at Arapahoe Community College.
