Area of Focus
As the Director of Marketing and Communications, Christie leads our outreach efforts to help Western Resource Advocates maximize its impact by focusing, leading, and deploying the organization’s marketing and communications toward key priorities and audiences where they can have the greatest impact. She works to leverage and grow WRA’s ability to influence and engage target audiences of decision-makers, partners, and donors to advance specific programmatic and development goals.
Christie joined WRA in August 2021. As an accredited public relations professional with two decades of marketing communications experience, she has worked across many industries including nonprofit, environment/conservation, education, healthcare, real estate, travel and tourism, and sports entertainment.
Christie previously served as vice president of public engagement for Expect More Arizona, a nonpartisan education advocacy nonprofit, where she was an integral part of the marketing communications team and was responsible for developing and executing the organization’s external engagement strategy in order to inform and mobilize Arizonans to take action on critical education issues. Prior to that role, she was the director of marketing and public relations at Arizona Forward, a nonprofit business-based environmental public interest group.
Christie spent the first half of her career working in a communications agency setting and spearheading a number of environmental and sustainability campaigns, where she discovered her passion for protecting our land, air and water to ensure that vibrant communities exist in balance with nature.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Florida International University. Christie also received her accreditation in public relations (APR) in 2007.
