(November 29, 2017) Steve Michel, Chief of Policy Development, Western Resource Advocates (WRA), released the following statement on the decision today by the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission to approve PNM’s Renewable Energy Act Plan.

“Western Resource Advocates is pleased with the Commission’s decision today, which will assure that 50 MW of new solar power, and a substantial amount of new wind and geothermal generation, will be developed quickly to serve New Mexico customers. Allowing those resources to go forward now is very important for protecting and preserving New Mexico’s environment. Delaying those projects, as some of those seeking rehearing were advocating, would have risked increased costs for New Mexicans because of recent federal policies that hurt renewable development.”
