Add Your Name: Protect Colorado Waters!

Take action to protect Colorado waters.

Over 68% of rivers and drinking water sources and almost all the wetlands in Colorado could be at risk

The U.S. Supreme Court’s 2023 Sackett v. EPA decision stripped protections from thousands of miles of Colorado streams and crucial drinking water sources and hundreds of thousands of acres of wetlands, leaving one of the state’s most important resources at risk from pollution and the impacts of development.

In response, Colorado lawmakers passed bipartisan legislation in 2024 to restore critical water protections at the state level, directing the Water Quality Control Commission to create a rule regulating projects that could harm state waters.

These wetlands and waters are vital to Colorado’s public and environmental health, way of life, economic vitality, and scenic beauty. Wetlands, streams, lakes, ponds, and other waterbodies:

  • Clean our water supplies.
  • Help make Colorado more resilient to floods, fires, and drought
  • Sustain farmland and ranches.
  • Provide irreplaceable wildlife habitat and recreation opportunities.

WRA has intervened to make sure the WQCC finishes the job set out by the state legislature to protect one of our most vital resources: clean water. Now we need you to make this a reality. Add your name to protect Colorado waters, now and for future generations.
