Area of Focus:

Ken is leading Western Resource Advocates’ new Flexible Grid Project, advocating for grid investments that will foster energy efficiency, improved reliability, and renewable energy. He is supporting the Energy Program on a variety of issues, including grid architecture, integration of battery storage with renewable energy, smart inverters, and distribution voltage optimization.


Ken worked for 18 years at Bell Labs as a member of Technical Staff and in engineering management. For 15 years he was an engineering consultant and expert witness in telecommunications and energy distribution systems. He also served for six years as a city council member in Boulder, Colorado.


Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a BS in EE from Oklahoma State University. He recently completed a Master’s degree in Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Favorite thing about the West:

Hiking and camping in the mountain wilderness areas, which he has been doing for 60 years and counting.
