As Western Resource Advocates’ Vice President of Programs and Strategy, Harrison supervises our Clean Energy, Healthy Rivers, Western Lands, Clean Air, and Communications work. He brings seasoned experience to the development of campaign plans that leverage policy changes throughout our seven state region. Working closely with WRA’s President and senior management team, Harrison creates effective political and stakeholder engagement strategies and supports strategic communications efforts that increase WRA’s visibility and reach new audiences who care about protecting the West’s land, air and water.
Harrison brings a fifteen year track record of securing measurable results in U.S. statehouses, Congress and regulatory agencies. Most recently, he served as the National Campaigns Director for the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) in Austin, Texas where he worked with commercial and charter for-hire fishermen to advance market-based fishery management programs that protect public access and revive fish stocks. Prior to EDF, Harrison worked for the New Venture Fund in Washington, DC where he collaborated with sportsmen, law enforcement officials and other outdoor recreational enthusiasts to secure responsible off-road vehicle policies in four Western states, including Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada. He also led communications and policy initiatives for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and League of Conservation Voters.
B.A. from the University of Vermont, Environmental Studies. He also completed the League of Conservation Voters’ Environmental Leadership Institute and the School of International Training’s Zanzibar Coastal Ecology Seminar in the United Republic of Tanzania.
