As a staff attorney based in WRA’s Salt Lake City office, Ariel’s focus is protecting Utah’s land, air, and water. Her work spans improving the health of Great Salt Lake and Utah’s national forests, halting unnecessary and dirty oil shale and tar sands development, and improving air quality along the Wasatch Front and in the Uintah Basin.
Prior to joining Western Resource Advocates in October 2016, Ariel worked for a private law practice in Evanston, Wyoming, where she gained experience in areas as diverse as family law and water rights disputes, argued cases in front of the Wyoming Supreme Court, and in 2015 served as President of the Uinta County Bar Association. She first became involved with WRA through the environmental clinical program while a student at the S.J. Quinney College of Law.
Ariel holds a Juris Doctor from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, a Stegner Center Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Natural Resources in the fall of 2010. Ariel also holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in English and one in French, from the University of Wyoming. Ariel is an active member of the Bar in Utah and Wyoming.
