Western Resource Advocates released the following statement on February 15, 2017 regarding a proposed bill by Nevada Assemblyman Chris Brooks (D-Las Vegas). AB 206 would increase clean renewable energy by updating Nevada’s renewable portfolio standard.

“We applaud Assemblyman Chris Brooks’ legislation to increase Nevada’s renewable portfolio standard. This bill would encourage and accelerate Nevada’s development of clean, renewable energy from our abundant geothermal, solar and wind resources to power our economy, keep our air clean, and provide good paying jobs for Nevadans. By setting a renewable standard equal to 50% of all electricity sold to Nevadans by 2030, and a long term goal of achieving an 80% renewable standard by 2040, Nevada would reclaim its place as a leading producer and consumer of renewable energy.”
