Western Resource Advocates Calls Trump Administration Projected Rollback of Water Rule Out of Step with Western Values

(February 28, 2017) President Trump is projected today to issue an Executive Order to roll back the Waters of the United States rule. The Waters of the United States rule likely being revised protects smaller streams and rivers as well as wetlands that provide critical water supplies for many communities in the water-scarce West.

Jon Goldin-Dubois, President of Western Resource Advocates, had this to say about the Executive Order if issued today as projected:

“The Trump Administration rollback of clean water protections is out of step with Western values. Recent polling shows strong support among Democrats, Republicans and independent voters alike for clean water, with three-quarters of Westerners believing pollution of rivers, lakes and streams is a serious problem in their state. We urge Western governors to stand with their constituents, to ensure thriving communities and to protect our health by leading bipartisan state-level efforts to advance clean water, healthy rivers, and protected wetlands.”
